Hudson Valley Regional CALENDAR

***Please be advised: We are hosting two (2) Time Trials (East & West) as we always do. However, there will be only ONE (1) Spring Games held at West Point on Saturday, 6 May, 2017. This event, due to the influx of athletes and other factors, will likely be extended about 60-90 minutes. Please understand this event is held a world class facility that only few have the opportunity to compete at. We will keep you posted and updated on any and all information as we receive it.

Information regarding your bus (plate #, driver name, etc) given to us ahead of time, will be very helpful. We need to provide this to DES on base
ALL buses MUST use the Stony Lonesome entrance
please bring your own canopies as West Point will have limited tents available (if any)
NO DOGS will be allowed in the area (UNLESS it is a clearly marked service dog)
Please plan to arrive EARLY, parking is going to be, well, challenging. There is a Notre Dame lacrosse game that day…enough said!
Please know that the Army waits for no one. We start on time, every time.
Awards will be given at this event: Male/female athletes of the year, coach, etc. Those nominations, along with the Houghton Award, Herzog Award, Cutignola Award and the Medals to Create Miracles Award are all currently available in our office. I will be sending out a mass email on Monday. These nominations are DUE back in this office by Friday, 21 April, 2017. Yes, that is the day before Time Trials EAST.

Coaches training will be offered on the following date: Wednesday, 29 May at 5PM st Spackenkill HS (Poughkeepsie, NY). General session and Track & Field training will be offered. If interested, contact Linda Efraimsen, or phone 845.262.6024.

Past Events:
Tom Adimari played tennis well down in Virginia, however he succumbed to a serious tournament ending Achilles injury during his match play. Upon his return to NY, Tom had surgery on his ruptured Achilles. I have spoken with Tom and his outlook, spirits and prognoses’ are all good.

We have had a multitude of events occur here in the valley of late. There were 17 teams at our Regional Floor Hockey event, we hosted Winter Games and finally had some snow! That worked out pretty well for over three thousand registered volunteers in our region!! Kudos to those folks kickin’ some volunteer butt!!
We had about fifty coaches at our summer coaches conference in early February that offered certification in Aquatics, Athletics and Basketball. Most recently, we have hosted our basketball competitions locally in Westchester that have had 16 and 12 teams respectively and over 120 skills athletes plus a Juniors basketball skills competition that had 35 competitors. All of the skills competitions and the court management is largely supported by the local Lions/Leos, Elks and Knight of Columbus. Without these groups and their volunteer support, we would be unable to have quality competitions.
Finally, we last hosted a Regional aquatics competition at White Plains HS, where Coach Patty Gilmartin coordinates over 40 student-athlete volunteers to run the pool deck from staging, timing and recording to awards and the ever important life-guards. Thanks to all that make the events happen, and make them quality events that our athletes can be proud to be a part of.

The Rockland Basketball league began on Wednesday, 15 March and will run every Wednesday thru 24 May, 2017.
