Governor Hochul Includes $1M Increase for Special Olympics New York in FY 2025 Executive Budget Proposal

Statement by President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman

“Governor Kathy Hochul is the champion Special Olympics New York athletes need her to be.

“The additional $1M in state funding for Special Olympics New York included in the governor’s budget proposal will prevent significant cuts to our signature State Games and enable us to continue recruiting new athletes and families to our life-changing movement. The impact these funds will have in New York communities, schools, and workplaces cannot be overstated.

“Governor Hochul has prioritized support for people with disabilities throughout her leadership. Our athletes are proud to have her as a fan and we are incredibly grateful to have her as a partner. We will not let you down, Governor.”
