What is the Impact Club?
The Special Olympics New York Impact Club is a group of volunteers who aim to support the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their community. Members will carry out administrative tasks on behalf of Special Olympics New York via phone and email. Members will not be asked to solicit cash donations.
How does it work?
Membership of the Impact Club is on a volunteer basis, with volunteer registration required. While the Club is currently working on a task, members are asked to commit 2-4 hours of their time per week until the task is completed. These hours can be counted as certified Community Service.
The Impact Club will host hours at the Special Olympics New York headquarters in Albany, with a workspace provided to each member. Capital Region and volunteers throughout the state may also choose to work from home using their own equipment.
For each new task, Special Olympics New York will provide virtual training and provide supporting materials such as contact information and talking points. Trainings will be recorded and sent to each member.
Is the Impact Club right for you?
The ideal volunteer is organized, friendly, patient and professional. Volunteers will have a direct impact in communities across NYS by:
- Helping to grow the Special Olympics movement to inclusion.
- Freeing up limited administrative resources within Special Olympics New York.
- Completing tasks that support athletes and families.
Volunteers interested in joining the Impact Club are asked to contact impact@nyso.org for more information.
