Hudson Valley Region Powerlifting Athlete Domenick Wolf Named Special Olympics New York Athlete of the Month for June

In Partnership with NY ABLE

Special Olympics New York and the New York Achieving a Better Life Experience Program (NY ABLE) are pleased to congratulate Domenick Wolf on being named the June 2024 Athlete of the Month.

Domenick earned this award through his tremendous improvement this season. Though he began powerlifting later than most of his teammates, he still made all his lifts at the recent West Point Spring Games, even recording a personal best in the deadlift.

“Domenick epitomizes the power of determination in our movement,” said Special Olympics New York President & CEO Stacey Hengsterman. “In a short span, he’s gone from newcomer to one of the best lifters on his team. We’re pleased to recognize him for this achievement.”

To earn eligibility for Athlete of the Month, athletes must exhibit leadership in one or more of the following: Achievement in Sport, Sportsmanship (respect for coaches, officials, opponents, teammates), Character (playing by the rules, honesty, integrity), and Commitment to Improvement and Perseverance.

Athletes are considered for this honor based upon recommendations by Special Olympics New York staff, coaches, fans, and the community. To recommend a Special Olympics New York athlete, click here.
