Special Olympics New York Partners with NYS DMV for Custom License Plates

Plates Now Available for Purchase

Albany, NY – Whether you’re commuting to work or parking at the store, you’re about to see a lot more of Special Olympics NY. That’s because the globally trusted nonprofit is partnering with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles to provide custom branded license plates to New York State Residents.

Now available to passenger class motorists statewide, the branded Special Olympics NY plate is available at any DMV office, on the web, by mail, or through the DMV Custom Plates Unit. The plate is also available with the International Symbol of Access (ISA) for any registrant with a disability who qualifies.

“These plates represent a unique opportunity for our supporters to further publicize our movement,” said Stacey Hengsterman, President and CEO of Special Olympics NY. “We encourage our fans to show the state how much they choose to include.”

“DMV is happy to work with a variety of organizations to develop plates that allow New Yorkers to display their support,” said Commissioner Mark J.F. Schroeder. “We appreciate the effort that went into creating the Special Olympics NY plate and we know those who buy it will display it with pride.”
