Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month 2023

In honor of #HispanicHeritageMonth, we’re proud to spotlight Mildred and Jeremy Delgado from the New York City Region!

Jeremy has been a Special Olympics NY athlete since he was 10 years old. His mother, Mildred, has been volunteering and coaching for 16 years. They compete together year-round in softball, hockey, and swimming.

“Special Olympics NY is an amazing program for people with all types of disabilities,” Mildred told us. “I love that we can encourage and lift their self-esteem.”

And what can people do to celebrate this special month?

“Go to community events,” Mildred suggested. “Do more networking, because there’s not enough information out there yet. Talk more, and share your knowledge.”
